Coordinating the Market Information Booth by providing information about: - the Wolfville Farmers’ Market (what’s available, where to find vendors, etc)
- Wolfville and Region
- Sustainability and Buy Local initiatives
Satisfying customer curiousity - Developing materials that can satisfy and encourage customer curiosity (ex. veggie and fruit grids that show what is available at the market and when)
- Telling and encouraging Market stories (ie. hosting the monthly news section of the Folks Report, articles for the Grapevine, hosting the Wolfville Farmers’ Market Facebook page)
Growing a library of resources for use by the Wolfville Farmers' Market community
- Meeting and networking with people who engage in supportive work.
- Collecting written material from similar organizations.
- Making these resources available to the Market Community.
Coordinating the Buy Local Challenge
- Inviting market goers to sign on to the Buy Local Challenge at the Info Booth
- Delivering resources to challenge participants in the Market Kit, Facebook Page , and Buy Local Challenge Blog .
Bio: Devin Loughead Folks is a graduate of Acadia University with a BSc in Environmental Science, rounded out by quite a few courses in Biology, Mathematics, and Fine Arts. She has recently come to terms with the fact that all of her passions revolve around writing and her strengths lie in communicating ideas by simplifying the seemingly complicated ideas within science, sustainability, and environmentalism. Her job as Information Booth and Curiosity Coordinator at the Wolfville Farmers' Market allows her time and space to grow these passions, skills, and quite a few of her other interests. She hopes to raise her own chickens, write a cookbook, and run for public office over the next decade.
